Within The Community
Nestlé Purina believes in helping the communities that have allowed us to flourish, grow, and prosper within their boundaries. As a company, we are constantly seeking new avenues to improve not only St. Louis, but every community in which we are located.
Nestlé Purina and its associates contribute more than $1 million to the United Way of Greater St. Louis each year. The funds are used by nearly 200 agencies in 16 counties in Missouri and Illinois to provide community services. Similar campaigns at Nestlé Purina's various manufacturing locations are helping improve their communities, too.
Associates also collected more than 500 pounds of food for the United Way of Greater St. Louis Food Drive.
Each year, Nestlé Purina celebrates PetCare Pride Day, a day of community service and volunteering at our St. Louis headquarters and at plant cities across the country. In 2009, activites included:
For more than 30 years, Nestlé Purina has funded and facilitated the Summer Youth Enrichment Program, designed to educate urban youth in St. Louis City about the workplace and to empower them to be more engaged in their community. The eight week program specifically focuses on community issues surrounding animal welfare and careers related to pets. The teens involved in the program develop leadership, career and life skills that will help them to be successful as future professionals and community leaders.
